Braised pork belly with cabbage

Braised pork belly with cabbage may take a long time to prepare, but it’s worth it as you can utilize the cooking time for other activities or preparing other dishes. The nutritious braised cabbage and the flavorful broth from simmering the vegetables for hours, combined with tender pork belly, make for a satisfying and nourishing meal. Serving it hot can enhance your day.


  • 3 cloves garlic

  • ½ tsp peppercorns 

  • 1 coriander root

  • 2 tbsp vegettable oil

  • 650 g pork belly 

  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 400 g carrot 

  • 550 g cabbage

  • 2 liters water

  • A pork flavored cube

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce


  1. Cabbage, divided into 4 pieces.

  2. Carrot, peeled and cut into bite size pieces.

  3. Pork belly, cut into 3 cm. cubes.

  4. Garlic, black peppercorns and coriander roots, pound to paste.

PREP TIME : 15minutes

COOKING TIME : 1 hour and 30minutes

YIELD : 5people

  1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once the oil is hot add the peppercorns, coriander and garlic paste and stir fry until fragrant.

  2. Now add pork belly and stir fry the pork for a minute or so. Once the exterior turns white, add light soy sauce, oyster sauce, carrot and stir to combine. Now, add the cabbage and pour in 2 liters of water. Then, add the pork flavored cube, salt, sugar, and dark soy sauce. Mix everything together, cover the pot, and simmer over medium-low heat for about 1 and a half hours or until the pork belly becomes tender. Serve hot or warm
