Stir-fried beef with Bok choy

Stir-fried beef with Bok choy is mellow in flavor and the aroma from the pan and eaten with crunchy Bok choy, adds some more texture and aroma with the  fried garlic.



For stir frying beef

  • 160 g Beef (Blade)

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp+3/4 tsp oyster Sauce

  • 1 tsp Sugar

  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil

  • 1/2 cornstarch

  • 50 ml water

For cooking Bok Choy

  • 1 tsp Cooking oil 

  • ¼ tsp Salt

  • 200 g Bok Choy 

  • water


  1. Bok Choy, Cut off the bottom stem a bit, separate the leaves and wash them thoroughly.

  2. Beef, cut into small pieces or bite-sized pieces

  3. Garlic, minced

  4. Mix together cornstarch and water.

PREP TIME : 10minutes

COOKING TIME :  10minutes

YIELD :  1 person


Stir-fried beef with Bok choy


  1. Heat a large pot of water over high heat. Add salt and cooking oil then while boiling, add in the Bok choy and cook for 3 minutes or until the color of the Bok choy turns dark.  Use a sieve to drain the Bok choy and transfer to a bowl of ice water and soak until the heat is gone.(Soak the boiled vegetables in cold water immediately to keep them beautiful color and crunchy.) Then use your hands to gently squeeze the Bok choy  to drain and transfer to a serving plate.

  2. Heat the cooking oil in a wok over medium- heat. Add the garlic and cook until just starting to color (the garlic will continue cooking as it sits, so be sure to remove it from the heat before the garlic is golden brown). Use a sieve to drain the garlic and transfer to the paper towel to drain. 

  3. Using the same wok with garlic oil over high heat add the beef and stir fry for 2 minutes or until the beef is 50 % cooked. Now add sugar, light soy sauce and oyster sauce and stir to combine. Then add cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce begins to thicken and the beef is cooked through. Transfer the stir fried beef from the heat and lendle over the boiled  Bok choy and sprinkle generously with the fried garlic. Enjoy!!!
