Thai Toasted Sticky Rice Powder seasoning

Thai toasted sticky rice powder is a staple in Thai kitchens, especially Isaan food, Lab dishes, and Jaew dipping sauces. Thai toasted sticky rice powder will add aroma and mellowness to food.


  • 100 g  uncooked sticky rice

  • 1 ½ tbsp galangal

  • 4 pieces kaffir lime leaves

*Tips* The galangal and kaffir lime leaves make Thai toasted sticky rice powder more fragrant, if you don’t add them, it’s okay.

PREP TIME : 25 minutes

COOKING TIME : 20 minutes




  1. The sticky rice is washed thoroughly and patted dry, then air dry for 15-20 minutes.

  2. Slice the galangal into thin strips and tear the kaffir lime leaves.

  3. Put the sticky rice in the pan and heat it over medium heat.

  4. Roast for about 10 minutes or rice will start to turn yellow, add the sliced ​​galangal and continue roasting for about 5 minutes, add kaffir lime leaves.

  5. Roast until golden brown.

  6. Use tongs to remove the kaffir lime leaves and galangal from the roasted sticky rice.

  7. Let the roasted sticky rice cool for 3-5 minutes.

  8. Put the roasted sticky rice in a mortar and pound it thoroughly and you’re done.

  9. Ladle into a covered container and store in the refrigerator for 1 month.
